Cutting threads on a truss rod today, and used one of my favorite tricks to collect up all those sharp little shavings. Put a magnet in a plastic bag, swipe it around the area and the shavings stick to it. Then hold it over the trash can, take the magnet out of the bag, and all the shavings fall off Make sure the magnet stays in one corner of the bag so it doesn't slide away from the shavings on the outside and drop them before you're ready. That's a nice idea, Dennis. I have heard of guys using magnets in socks for this purpose--but then you'd have to throw away the sock. Your plastic bag would be re-usable for years. Excellent. Patrick |

I wrap a magnet in a paper towel to collect steel wool bits after fretting. Works great. Just don't do it with a pickup installed! |
